Have you noticed off-white or pink or fluffy black spots on your mattress? That pungent-smelling appearance that attracts insects is mould. They usually occur because of long-staying stains or moisture content. They usually occur in a dark and humid environment. And can cause many health problems which can even lead to death if not treated at the earliest.

Health issues caused by moulds:

Allergic reactions like skin rashes

Respiratory problems like Asthma

Skin problems like eczema

To avoid such situations you take preventive measures like disinfecting your mattress regularly and using antimicrobial covers for your mattress, using dehumidifiers in your room and making sure that natural sunlight reaches your room along with good air circulation in your room.

And even after taking preventive measures, if moulds grow on your mattress, then removing them is the next thing to do.

Before that, know about the early signs of mould growths. Look for black or pink or off-white spots on your mattress with a suffocating smell. Your bed starts attracting insects and there are moulds in other parts of your room. If you start noticing these symptoms do not wait and take measures to remove the mould as soon as possible.

It is always recommended to call for professional help if the mould growth is severe.

And if you have noticed it in the early stages you can do these things to remove the mould.

Steps to remove moulds from your mattress :

Immediately vacuum both sides of the mattress and clean the dust catcher of the vacuum cleaner right away to stop the mould from spreading.

Make a mixture of equal amounts of rubbing alcohol and warm water in a cup and wet a cloth with this solution and scrub on the mouldy part and surrounding parts of the mattress.

Now rinse it with warm water. Make sure you are not using too much water. If you use excess water it can encourage mould growth.

Spray any disinfect that is suitable for your mattress upholstery.

Now let your mattress dry. Most preferably try to do this in the sunlight which will ensure that no more mould grows on your mattress.

Even after doing all these some moulds are very persistent and won’t go away in such cases it is always best to get help from professionals and expert cleaning services who will know the right solution to this with the right treatment.
